We are incredibly excited to support our 2024 Spirit Week Beneficiary, the Emerson Rose Heart Foundation! This is a charity that helps to change the lives of both infants and their families in the Upstate by supporting them through the scary times of having a congenital heart defect.
Emerson Rose Smith was born with a congenital heart defect, and unfortunately passed shortly after she was born. Her parents, Jason and Susan Smith, decided they needed to make an impact in our local community in remembrance of her. They decided to make light of a dark situation, and guide families through the difficulties of having an infant born with a conginetal heart defect.
The Emerson Rose Heart Foundation helps to support families by supporting them both physically and mentally, improving the medical care they are given in the hospital, funding mini research projects, and implementing AED and CPR training in local schools.

170+ CHD children are born in the Upstate each year, and 20 percent of those children will not live to celebrate their first birthday. Together, we can change that statistic!
